Am considering a second side hustle called Becca's Babkas. But in all seriousness: make a babka (or two) this week. It'll feed the people you love + your soul #messycookingI'm working on a new cookie recipe that involves butterscotch, cinnamon, and a lot of brown sugar. The result: midweek cookie towers that may or may not tide us over to Friday #messycookingMessy cooking on the road ✨#messycookingBreakfast for dinner/farmers market haul 😍 #messycookingSometimes all you need to recharge is a lazy summer evening and this Pistachio Cake with Almond Orange Buttercream 🍊. I think pistachio is one of the most woefully underrated nuts, and you really can't go wrong with a citrus infused buttercream. Recipe link in bio! #messycookingI can't get over how beautiful vegetables straight from the garden are. There's something so incredibly satisfying about seeing the whole process - from tiny seed to homemade tomato jam! What's growing in your garden? #messycookingHappy 1st birthday to the recipe developing/website aspect of Flours In Your Hair! When Anna and I started this blog we weren't sure what it would be - we already cooked together all the time, and wanted a way to share what we were making. So we started posting photos of our breakfasts, our dinners, our cakes. And then we decided: hey, we're so inspired by all these other badass bloggers, let's start writing it down! But it turns out that recipe developing is a whole different animal. It takes a lot of practice, a lot of patience, and a couple of meltdowns (on my part), but I've loved it. So if you're thinking about starting your own blog but aren't sure if you have the expertise/camera/space/time: Do it! You learn as you go. And shout out to everyone that's supported Flours In Your Hair as we've grown - especially those of you who I've made wait to eat dinner until I've photographed the whole thing. Link to Three Layer Chocolate Cake with Salted Caramel Buttercream in bio #messycookingI know, I know - brussels sprouts. The most unpopular vegetable outside of lima beans. But it's an unfair characterization! The trick is to steam them for a few minutes first to soften em up, then sauté over high heat. I seasoned these sprouts with shallots, garlic, salt, red pepper flakes, and some lemon juice. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think! #messycooking
