French Toast 1 We are happy to present a simple strawberry syrup recipe ideal for brunch and desserts. The best thing about this recipe is that you can substitute strawberries with your favorite fruit. It's that easy! The How To:
  1. In a small saucepan, combine strawberries, brown sugar, vanilla extract and lemon zest.
  2. Place on medium low heat and cook Β for about 10 minutes until strawberries are cooked down into a thick syrup.Β Be sure to stir occasionally!
  3. Set aside to cool and serve.
A Few Notes:
  • During cooking you might be tempted to add a thickening agent to the syrup. There is no need. This syrup, when cooled, has a nice thick consistency.
  • We prefer our syrup full of chunky fruit. For smoother syrup, cut fruit into smaller bits, puree syrup or sieve out fruit chunks.
  • This pairs very well with basil or mint. Add to saucepan prior to cooking.
